0 Razer Mamba 2012 Elite Ergonomic Wireless Gaming Mouse

Best Wireless Gaming Mouse - I just wanted a mouse that worked well. This is the first wireless mouse that I have tried in years that had forward and backward buttons, and actually had a scroll wheel that you could easily click as a center mouse button. The Razer Mamba 2012 Elite is a very comfortable mouse to use in both wired and wireless modes. The accuracy is dead on. The grip/movement is exactly what I have been looking for over the past several years. It has a good weight and feel in the hand. It is very nice to use at all sensitivity levels as well.

The Razer Mamba 2012 Elite gaming mouse grade wireless technology is engineered to free you from the reins while achieving the highest gaming standards. Its ability to be polled at an interval of 1ms maximizes the frequency, that means your command gets executed first even if you and your opponent react at the same time. Also with 6400dpi 4G Dual Sensor, outfitted with a laser and an optical sensor to accurately calibrate the mouse to any surface for exceptional pinpoint tracking. The Razer Mamba 2012 Elite can not only match the speed of your swipes, but also allows configuration of cutoff distance to manage liftoff tracking, empowering you with more control than ever, no matter the play style

Razer Mamba 2012 Elite Pros and Cons

So, here are the Pros and Cons of the Razer Mamba 2012 Elite Ergonomic Wireless Gaming Mouse :

PROs

  • Mouse ergonomics are excellent and feels natural
  • Mouse management software easy to install and setup - make sure to go to the website for the latest version; both software drivers and firmware versions!
  • Mouse wireless performance is flawless - and yes, 6400 DPI is now fully supported in wireless mode!! Most likely, this issue was resolved with the firmware updates
  • Mouse wired performance is flawless - this is to be expected!
  • Mouse can be charged either through the base (when docked), or when connected in wired mode using the included USB cable - this allows for the greatest amount of versatility that allows you to take the mouse with you on the go without requiring the need to take the base stand
  • Ability to create profiles for individual games and store up to five profiles on the mouse - you can even change the associated color to particular games if you want! And yes, the mouse will autoswitch to the pre-programmed profile for a particular game when it's launched (autoswitch mode is optional, so you will need to select this for each profile)
  • Mouse software allows you the option to show the DPI setting on screen - this is very useful when gaming so you aren't guessing which DPI setting is currently selected! This is also an option that the user can turn on or off
  • DPI settings range from 100 through 6400! I particularly like this because it provides a 100 DPI setting for sniping in FPS games which I prefer over 200 DPI. In comparison, the Logitech G700 and G500 mice only offer a 200 DPI to 5700 DPI range
  • Battery life is outstanding at an average of 8 hours! And power management options are available through the software - profiles can be designed to include sleep mode activation when no activity is present (inactivity time can be adjusted by 1 minute increments) and the brightness of the LED on the mouse can be lowered to safe battery life (each step of brightness equals 1 hour of battery life)

CONs

  • Mouse and base will most likely require firmware updates - so this will slow you down from being able to use your mouse immediately right out of the box
  • DPI buttons are in a slightly position and takes some getting use to as you may have a tendency to click the left mouse button when trying to change DPI settings. With some practice and time spent using the mouse, this becomes less of an issue
  • Overall cost of the mouse is a bit high for most folks to take in - the Logitech G700 is a great alternative and sells for about $40 less - I own both, so I am not biased as to which I like more (except for the DPI range)
